Hi beautiful, it’s Sarah here from Proud Happy Brave and today I wanted to talk about 5 mindset shifts you need to make to feel good about yourself.
So if you struggled to feel good about yourself, or you don’t think you’re worthy, or you don’t think you’re valuable, you’ve not got very good self-esteem or confidence then this is for you.
This will help you to build up those things and start to see that you are amazing just as you are.
Okay, so let’s dive straight in!
Mindset Shift #1. It’s okay to love yourself.
So I know that growing up, you might have heard messages like,
- You shouldn’t love yourself. It’s egotistical to love yourself.
- You’re not lovable if [this or that].
- You don’t match exactly what society says you should be like and you need to before you can love yourself.
There are all these messages that we get that we shouldn’t be loving ourselves and that it is an undesirable thing.
BUT it is actually a VERY DESIRABLE thing to be loving yourself because then you’re giving yourself the best chance of being happy and fulfilled in your life.
And it’s not egotistical to love yourself. You don’t have to go and shout it from the rooftops and shove it in everyone’s face. No, that’s not What self-love is about.
Self-love is loving yourself and being your own best friend. And that leads me on to mindset shift number two…

Mindset Shift #2. You are your own best friend and biggest cheerleader.
That is how you should see it. You don’t need to be tearing yourself down.
You don’t need to be your harshest critic. Although we do tend to be (our own harshest critic), you need to be your biggest cheerleader.
You need to be your own best friend.
You are the person that you spend the most time around. 24/7 we’re around ourselves.
And so you need to be there for yourself to encourage yourself and support yourself.
You will feel so much better about yourself when you’re cheering yourself on.

Mindset Shift #3. Mistakes don’t mean you’re a failure.
Mistakes are a part of everyday life.
Everybody makes them, it’s part of learning. It’s part of living. It’s just what happens. That doesn’t mean that you’re a failure.
It doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.
Any mistake you make is either just that: a slip-up, a mistake, or it’s learning and data for you to use as you move on in your life.
So please stop seeing mistakes as meaning that you’re a failure. They certainly don’t!

Mindset Shift #4. You don’t need to change.
Stop thinking that you are broken. Stop thinking that there is something wrong with you.
You don’t need to change. You’re innately, worthy and valuable. Just the way you are.
No matter what race you are, no matter where you were born, no matter how wealthy you are or not, you are innately worthy.
You are just the same as everybody else. You had no control over where you were born or how you were raised.
You are innately worthy and you don’t need to change yourself to be worthy or to feel good about yourself.
Funnily enough, I used to think that I needed to drastically change myself before I would ever feel good about myself. But now that I have moved from self-hatred towards self-love, not that much has changed except for my opinions about myself.
You don’t need to change yourself. Please stop thinking that you do.
Mindset Shift #5. You can change if you want to.
So, I know I said in the last point that you don’t need to change and that’s totally true, but sometimes we do want to change.
Sometimes we want to grow and we want to experience different things and that’s fine. That’s totally possible for you.
Being aware that you can change and acknowledging that you can do that if you want, is a very powerful mindset to have.

Let’s recap!
The five mindset shifts that you need to make to feel good about yourself are:
- It’s okay to love yourself.
- You are your own best friend and biggest cheerleader.
- Mistakes don’t mean you’re a failure.
- You don’t need to change.
- But you can if you want to!
So yeah, I hope that these mindset shifts have inspired you to think about things in a new way and to realise that you are already amazing.
You’re already good enough. And you’re already incredible as you are. You’ve got so much potential. It’s just crazy!
I’m sending you so much love and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
